Welcome to Version 2.8 of the Thyngs Platform.

The release was done yesterday morning, here are the key points for this release.

New Tiny URL - Thy.ng

Congratulations to us!! Not only is the company now ONE YEAR OLD but we also just brought the domain "thy.ng". From today onwards we will be aiming to use this URL over our previous shortened URL of "thyg.uk".

New Thyng code format 

With our new domain we have also added a new format for our thyng code, version B. This new code will allow us to have around ten million codes. Which means more thyngs!

New Template

To add to the growing library of templates you have access to, we have created a ‘Collection page’ template. This new page will allow you to design a page which will allow your to collect objects. Create objects and then link them to the template and you will be able to customise the experience.

When one of your consumers finds, and interacts with an object it will display on the collection page with the image you uploaded for that object. This is a great template to be used in trails or as a loyalty card. Check it out on your MyThyngs!

New Payment setup

We have re-vamped the payment setup pages for your account! Before you would only be able to see the Paythru information and field, now we have re-made the Payment Setup tab into ‘MyThyngs Extensions’. At the current moment, you will be able to add 2 payment types to your MyThyngs Account via this page, but a lot more useful extensions will be coming soon!

When an extension is added it will appear in a section at the top of the page. As well as that it will give you an ability to edit and manage them easier.

Stripe

Definitely the biggest feature of this release is the addition of Stripe as a payment option.

Stripe is a worldwide payment provider, and allows for quick and easy processing of transaction.

You can set up instantly with Stripe through MyThyngs under the Payment Setup section in the user menu. Stripe will allow you to take donations and Gift Aid via our Donation template pages which have also been refreshed to give the user a new experience.

After the user has made one payment, their preferred method will be remembered and the following time, the experience will take less time as their previous selection will be used.

Gift Aid information will also be prefilled after filling it in once, making the whole experience a lot more speedy.

Gift Aid report

With the addition of the new Stripe payments, we also have a new report for Gift Aid collected on your account. This table will store all information necessary to send off as a report to HMRC to claim the Gift Aid for your donations.

(At the moment the Gift Aid information in this table will only be filled for donations made with Stripe. For donations via Worldpay please view your Paythru account.)

Unofficial thyngs

There are now new images that appear for unofficial thyngs in the Thyngs app history or favourites. This will make them easier to spot and will associate with type of content that the unofficial thyng is.

Throughout our platform and app we have also made some small changes, so have a click around and see what you can find :)

We also optimised our system overall and fixed some small bugs.
